Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet

A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.

20m thinking about using my Bitcoin wallet as a savings account

My money is slowly melting. I have 3000 in savings. It does sound risky. But I feel like the reward overweights the risk. Btc is well to established at this point. Reward my money 2x-5x Risk losing it all Or it just staying around the same price. Thoughts ?

Made my Bitcoin wallet entirely in flutter 💙

Currently only on the play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paymintlabs.paymint
The code is open source too: https://github.com/Paymint-Labs/Paymint
Really enjoyed using flutter to build this. I come from Ionic dev and I really found flutter to be a big step up from that. The only thing I can think of that slows me down is the immature package ecosystem but I believe that'll be fixed with time. In particular, the lack of cryptography libraries really slowed me down while building Paymint.

Wait a second, if I die without leaving someone my password, does that mean that not only will my family not inherit my bitcoin, but those assets essentially disappear into a digital abyss?!

I read a few articles on this, but they don't fill me with confidence there are clearly obstacles to overcome, it got me thinking about what the future of banking will look like..

Accessing my Bitcoin w/my .dat files

Hi. So....in 2013/2014 I bought some Bitcoin. A couple of years later my computer croaked. I was able to create .dat files for my bitcoin and litecoin. (I think I used an old ripple wallet, if that makes sense). Anyway...I still have the .dat files and the password data. I downloaded the Bitcoin Core. Now I'm stuck. I don't know how to import the .dat files and/or to see what is in my old wallet. Any thoughts?

I accidentally sent Litecoin to my Bitcoin address. What should I do?

Last day accidentally I sent my Litecoin from Binance account to Coinbase Bitcoin wallet address.
The bitcoin wallet address started by 3
Unfortunately, the withdraw is confirmed I got Tx. I checked that tx in Bitcoin Network but there is not exist that Tx. But the Tx exist in Litecoin network but my fun is transferred to an address which is started by M
I checked my wrong Bitcoin address in https://litecoin-project.github.io/p2sh-convert
and I saw my the Bitcoin address converted that litecoin address where my fund is transferred.
Now, Can I get back fund? Who can help me to get back my fund Binance or Coinbase?

All of my bitcoin is in Robinhood - should I sell it, and transfer the $ into bank account, and then re-purchase in Coinbase?

After reading some posts on here, it seems like buying on RH was a mistake. Is what I’ve outlined above a good approach? I’m a complete noob

Is my bitcoin safe on an online broker?

Do I need to make my own wallet or can I just leave it on websites like btcmarket or coinspot etc? Are there cases of people losing their coins?

Can I prove my BitCoin balance to a complete stranger, safely, over the Internet?

I'd like to prove, verifiably, to some contestants in a contest I'm setting up; that I'm on the level and I do indeed have a prize ready to give to the winner.
I'm not talking escrow, I don't know who specifically is taking the money yet, they haven't contested yet and it doesn't start for another 9 weeks.
So, I'm trying to offer a cash prize, and to show off the bling on flyers and stuff.
I can't write "Grand Prize 0.0005 BTC" because that looks fucking lame, right?
What can be put on the poster to really get people's juices flowing?

Bovada has lost my Bitcoin deposit and refuses to look into it.

Made a deposit last night for about ~$1k USD. I haven't had any issues depositing on Bovada before, but this time around they seem to have never "received" my funds when I have a transaction ID. Anyone have any help on this?

Joined tarkov early this wipe, I recently got my bitcoin farm and have stopped dying so much. Now that I can actually spend my roubles on better stuff, what should I upgrade

I usually run a triton, 20 slot size backpack, class 3 armor, budget ak with 7.62 ps or 5x45 bp, momex/cold fear, and a ratnik helmet.
I was thinking of upgrading to the 6B13 for armor, probably a belt A+belt B, ANA alpha, or a Velocity systems for the rig. For backpacks would it be worth it to full send and get the 35 slot ones, or is it okay to stick to the 30ish ones which are cheaper.
For my AKs they all look the same, GP20 stock with pad, ak-100 handguard with a flashlight and rk-0 foregrip, SAW pistol grip, and dynacomp muzzle brake for AKM or DTK-1 for AK-74, and I was just going to look around for different mods for them. However what are people's thoughts on the more modern AK varients? And is it worth it buy newer AK variants of the 74 and M.
Edit: Totally forgot about headphones, never wear them, I probably should start buying them at this point I assume?

Withdrew Bankroll from ACR yesterday but it still hasn’t show up in my Bitcoin wallet?

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? How long does it usually take and should I be worried? This is my first time withdrawing from ACR.

Someone got into my blockchain.com wallet and stole all my bitcoin, but left the ETH alone

This happened while having 2FA enabled... How does this happen, and why did they leave my ETH alone? Pretty bummed about losing $144:(

Have I lost my Bitcoin?

I’ll start off by saying I am a complete newb and haven’t a clue what I’m doing or should be doing.
So in 2017 I purchased some Bitcoin and forgot all about it till today. I couldn’t really remember the process or purchasing but after some digging in my emails I managed to find the transaction email from where I purchased them. I think I had a wallet on my phone but that phone is now broke.
Is there any way of retrieving these coins now? I have a wallet address where the Bitcoin went to. It was £100 so I’m not going to lose sleep about it but wouldn’t be too bad if I could retrieve it if possible.
Edit: I managed to retrieve my wallet. I found my wallet ID in my emails and was able to login to the blockchain app and remembered the password. Thanks everyone!

As a beginner where should I keep my bitcoins

I’m guessing the easiest way is to keep it on the exchange but a lot of people say that’s not safe, then there’s blockchain wallet or mycelium wallet, what do you guys think of them? Or do you know of any other easy and safe way
